GS308E firmware update 1.00.08EN failed: workaround found!
Putting this up to encourage stress reduction for others. Spent a frustrating hour trying to update to the latest firmware on a GS308E in the home lab. Kept hanging when trying to load. So I went...
It's hard to believe that industry standard browsers like Chrome or Firefox behave that different on Linux vs. Windows - but they do...even on correct html and javascript coding.
There are some flaws on the old old Netgear switch Web UIs where especially Linux users are hurt. Even worse, the extended or long time stable Firefox are flawed by bugs/incompatibilities with these (and many more) embedded Web manageable devices.
Face it: The by far biggest customer base does run Windows and MacOS on the desktops and notebooks - most testing is done on these platforms.
