GS308EP 1000M Not Available

Fired up with V1.0.1.1 firmware out of the box. Connected to Gigabit port on switch. 100M connection. Went to web interface and edited a different port not in use. Pulled down the Speed and ...

Problem solved: Netgear Support said the 1000M pulldown is not an option.

Tried a different cable and it worked. 'Duh' on my part for thinking a 5E cable was in good working order.

Hi thom9999,

By default, the port speed on all ports is set automatically (Auto) after the switch determines the speed using auto-negotiation with the linked device. Also, the left port LED will indicate the following.

Solid green: 1000Mbps link on this port.
Blinking green: 1000Mbps activity on this port.

It's not an option: According to the IEEE 802.3 1000BASE-T standard, auto-negotiation on copper GE interfaces (and faster) is mandatory.
