GSM7352S 100Mb SFP module showing up as a 1Gb unknown media module
We were doing some troubleshooting on a switch that we pulled from service. We were having problems with the switch not recognizing 10Gb or 100Mb modules. We fixed the 10Gb issue by connecting it to another 7352 10Gb port, but the 100Mb modules keeps either not being detected or coming up as a 1Gb unknown media module on both switches. The switches are running 10.0.0.53 firmware. Any reason why the 100Mb modules wouldn't be properly recognizing?
Well, we couldn't figure it out, and contacted NETGEAR support. The batch of modules is getting RMA'd so they can do more testing and figure out what happened.

Hi Katernum,
Welcome to our community! :)
It seems that you were having issues connecting the 100MB module to this switch. May I know what specific module are you using? As per checking the datasheet, it only shows SFP 1000BASE and 10GBASE modules. It is possible that this is not compatible with 100BASE modules. It also shows in the manual that the status of the LED lights is only for 1GB and 10GB SFP/SFP+.
If ever your issue is addressed or resolved, please close this thread by clicking the "Accept as solution".
Thank you!
Regards,
John
