interestingly to get the screenshots i decided to get lug a lan cable directly into the switch.. previously i was trying to do the update via a wi-fi connection.
this time it all worked.. i was doing the original update via the prosafe app.. then when logging in (via chrome) it was just prompting to install the firmware again.. However with a direct ethernet cable, this time when i logged in through chrome.. i was asked to upload the boot loader and all worked!!
All sorted now.. just hope this may help some one else :-)

Hello willwalton
Sorry to cause your inconvenience. Hope to get your support to provide more information.
1, which browser version are you using?
2, You said you constantly got asked to upgrade the firmware again. Do you see the attached picture constantly?
3, You said you try to load GSS116E_LOADER_V1.0.0.5.bin. It fails. Is there any error message or symptom when it fails? Could you provide a screenshot when it fails?
