We are looking to isolate our VoIP traffic to its own VLAN. For a number of reasons, we'd like this to happen without needing to configure each phone. It looks like Netgear switches support this. Unfortunately, the documentation is scattered and in many cases outdated. I'm hoping some folks here can show me where we're going wrong. Goals: Voice VLAN = 88. Ports 1-44 set to untagged VLAN 1 and VLAN 88. Default to 1 unless MAC address prefix matches a VoIP device. Ports 45-46 are for router for Voice-VLAN and has no access to VLAN 1. Ports 47-48 are for router normal VLAN (1) and has no access to VLAN 88. Ports 49-52 are uplinks and should carry traffic for both VLANs. The phone should be able to operate in pass-through mode, and devices behind them should default to VLAN 1 as they normally would. Currently I am facing two issues: When I plug in a phone with matching MAC prefix, it is not being pushed to VLAN 88. I'm unable to outright disable Voice-VLAN (88) on ports 47-48. I'll add some screenshots of the current config in a follow-up post. Hopefully some kind network admin will take a look and be able to spot where I'm going wrong.336Views0likes11CommentsGS728TXP (S3300-28X-PoE+) EOL Bonjour/mDNS issue
Hi: Recently got a project relate with EOL switch S3300 for mDNS service. It seems mDNS didn't run through uplink to other switches. I googled and found there seems to be a firmware 6.6.4.29 solved this issue, but not been released. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Plus-and-Smart-Switches-Forum/GS728TXP-S3300-28X-PoE-EOL-Replacement/m-p/2297797 I wonder if anyone can share this version ? or any alternative way to configure for mDNS 224.0.0.251 to go through uplink to other switches ? Currently IGMP snooping is enabled for IPTV channels and only 1 flat VLAN. Sincerely, Billy LeeSolved4.5KViews0likes12CommentsGS724T v?
I have a customer with 4 gs724t smart switches. They recently had a audit (they are afinancial institution), and the audit recommended they thurn off telnet. On the v4 of this switch the GUI interface has the option to turn telnet on and off by going to maintenance->Troubleshooting->Remote Diagnostics. On their switch the GUI in the same place does not have the Remote Diagnostics option. I am guessing they are v3 or earlier. Is there a firmware upgrade for this or is there a different way to turn off telnet? There is no console port on these switches that I can see.Solved4.2KViews0likes10CommentsGS110TP bricked - help needed
Hello I tryed to upgrade firmware of my gs110TP from 5.0.5.7 to latest at the moment 5.4.2.30. I downoloaded 5.4.2.30 using TFTP as image2, activated it and rebooted switch After reboot I can't connect or even ping my switch. I did it remotelly and at the moment I can't say what LEDs showing. Before I started I read Release notes and there wasn't any warning about upgrading from prevoius versions. What I did wrong? Is there any special intermidiate firmware to jump from 5.0.x to 5.4.x? Help me please Regards SlawekSolved4.2KViews0likes5CommentsGS105Ev2 Update Firmware Beyond V 1.2.0.5
I have an unused GS105Ev2 Plus Switch that I have been playing with. On an apparently misguided whim, I downloaded and flashed the original V1.2.0.5 firmware to the device. The switch still works, but I've learned that it no longer supports a web interface for management. I installed the ProSAFE Plus utility, and it is also unable to detect the switch, so I reset the switch in an attempt to reset to a known IP address. I still cannot detect the switch with an older version of ProSAFE (v 2.2.3). I'm wondering if I can use TFTP to flash a newer firmware version, or if I've permanently downgraded my switch to a "dumb" device. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.2.4KViews0likes10CommentsXS724EM firmware 1.0.2.5 has NO-link issue with Cisco c300/c350 SMB switches at 1G link speed.
XS724EM firmware 1.0.2.5 is NOT fully compatible with Cisco small medium business 1G switches. For example, Cisco C300 SMB Series, C350 SMB Series, etc. To be clear: XS724EM Firmware 1.0.2.5 = Unable to pass any traffic to-from Cisco SMB switches at 1G whatsoever. XS724EM Firmware 1.0.2.0 = Works fine with Cisco SMB switches which ONLY support 100M or 1G links speeds. I had to downgrade XS724EM from 1.0.2.5 firmware, back down to 1.0.2.0 firmware, for it to be able to connect and work again with any of the Cisco SMB-series switches. In the 1.0.2.5 firmware release notes, it says, "A new physical layer driver is supported to improve interoperability." - I believe this to be the problem. as no physical link-layer communication is working using this XS724EM 1.0.2.5 firmware with Cisco C300/350-series SMB switches at 1G speeds. AND, because XS724EM does NOT have any feature to force speed at 1G, this means it is unable to link at all - no traffic passes whatsoever. In my opinion: This newer XS724EM firmware 1.0.2.5 should be pulled from download, reverted to 1.0.2.0, then patched, and finally re-launched again later (when compatibility is tested better). THANK GOODNESS, that NetGear still allows download of prior 1.0.2.0 firmware and lets you downgrade to work with Cisco again. The older NetGear firmware is located here (directly from NetGear): https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/XS724EM/XS724EM_V1.0.2.0.zipSolvedMS510TXM firmware version?
What happened to firmware version 1.0.5.12 for the MS510TXM? Back in mid-march, I had received an email from Netgear advising the release of firmware 1.0.5.12, with the below details. I updated the firmware back then, and since had been running it. However, I have just checked the support page for the switch and they're back to 1.0.5.10 and have completely removed 1.0.5.12! Does anyone know what happened? Should I revert back to 1.0.5.10, or stick with 1.0.5.12? Thanks, Model MS510TXM Firmware Version: 1.0.5.12 Release notes: MS510TXM and MS510TXUP Firmware version 1.0.5.12 Bug Fixes This firmware addresses the following bugs: Fixes an issue where you cannot exclude ports from the voice VLAN using the Insight Cloud Portal or Insight app.1.8KViews0likes5CommentsWeb Firmware Upgrade GS108Ev3 fails
Can anyone explain why you cannot upgrade the firmware on GS108Ev3 from firefox on linux? In my case from V2.06.17 to ENV2.06.24EN. After numerous attempts I noticed another comment elsewhere on the same subject where the user used a Windows machine and it worked. The same just worked for me...MS Edge (!) on windows 10 VM upgrade works as you would expect! What is the logic here that I am missing?2.1KViews0likes5Comments
