GS724TPv3 The switch loses IP connection about 1 time in 5 days.
Hi,
I have Netgear switch GS724TPv3, newest firmware installed
The switch loses IP connection about 1 x every 5 days.
I don't know why?
While power supply of IP cameras powered via POE is maintained.
IP connectivity from router and connected devices to switch is lost.
After hard power off and on of switch everything works.
The restart pin on the front of switch does not restore connectivity, it requires complete power off. The switch has a static IP address to avoid problems with address reservation from DHCP router.
Looking for a solution to the problem of setting up a reboot script for switch GS724TPv3 from my NAS Synology via ssh or telnet.
Can someone with experience help me with writing a script.
Thank you Zbynek

IP connectivity from router and connected devices to switch is lost.Have you tried using a different switch port (and also a different LAN port on the router)?

Can you reach the switch's web page from a connected device when the problem occurs?

Thanks for the advice.
I'll try a different port on the router and switch.
Unfortunately I can't access the switch's web. §
The switch is also inaccessible in Netgear Insight.
I was thinking about rebooting as a preventative measure,
like rebooting every 3 days at night to avoid a drop in connection.

The switch is also inaccessible in Netgear Insight. All application layer, no matter if it's the Web UI, Insight portal or App - it requires an active, working and mostly healthy connection path.

Cabling, hardware, Spanning Tree issues .... collecting syslog output now, for example on your NAS syslog service, to stop digging in the dark?

Any in-band communication to the switch core CPU and it's IP stack is lost?
Wonder on how you want to talk ssh or telnet to the very same switch then...

The IP connectivity from the Syno NAS - assuming it's connected direct or indirect to the same GS724TPv3 - can be retained reliably?

I don't know why?Me neither.
Loop Detection and/or Auto DoS Prevention enabled on the switch?
Start collecting and monitoring syslog from the switch -might- record and help unveiling a possible cause.
For example by operating a syslog server (certainly available on Syno NAS OS as it is on QNAP) and see what happens short before the connections are lost can bring some light. Doing so won't kill an average modern NAS...
Typical cause could be related to STP or some DOS...

The PoE controller in the switch does not require IP connectivity to the switch switch CPU.

Unfortunately, no communication with the switch works.
Likewise, the switch is unavailable in Netgear Insight.
I was thinking about rebooting as a preventive measure, for example rebooting every 3 days at night to avoid losing connection.
Reboot of course while the switch is still IP accessible.
Loop detection (STP) and DoS were enabled.
After disabling STP the switch died and I had to reboot to factory settings.
I only have the syslog before the loss of communication from Insight. (attached)

I don't know why?I am thinking a failing switch port is one possibility.
Another thing you might try is a hardware reset of the switch. I had what looked like a failed switch port on my one GS724 (different version) years ago, and a hardware reset cured it.

I have tried hard reset and factory reset multiple times.
The Switch is incredibly slow and the connection is unstable.
I will have to try the hard reset again today without any devices connected.
