Sep 07, 2023Netgear GS724TPV2 ports randomly shut down but power light is on
So the issue I'm running into is we have an office with just 30 people or so in it and we have 2 switches which are connected via a fiber cable. So the device in question is a Netgear GS724TPV2 Serial: 50XH2A5CA0BBE.
The only two connections to it are the fiber cable connecting the other switch (SFP Port 26) and a regular port (It was Port 2 but I changed it Port 10 due to cable management) that connects to an end user (set up is: PC > Phone > Switch). The logs will show these ports seemingly in an up/down state. So it'll go down for 5 minutes and it comes back up and for like 30 seconds it does an up/down dance. I attached an image to show what it sort of looks like, but to be clear the image is strictly to show you an idea of what I see when I notice the phone isn't working. The power light on the switch will be green and the ports will not have lights on and I have to reboot the switch and it comes back up fine. There's not a real pattern. After I reboot, it'll be fine anywhere from a day to a few weeks. I've since changed the timer for ports disabled via link flapping to be 86400 so I can see it when it happens. The computer/phone in question doesn't have someone in front of it and after 5 minutes of the port being down, it comes back up so no one really reports it and I believe the last time this happened was late August or around September 1st or 2nd.. This switch in particular is POE and we planned on putting our phones into it but until I get this figured out, I don't want to go from one phone being down to like 16. If you need to know anymore details please let me know and I'll provide them.

As this is certainly not a "SMART Wi-Fi, General And Legacy Routers" issue, I've requested a moderator to move this off-topic post to the more appropriate Plus And Smart Switches Forum intended to discuss Smart Switches (T) and Plus Switches (E), including Local and Remote Management devices.

Appears retired users don't want their issues troubleshooted. At the end of the day, it's the job for the network admin ...
