GS724TPv2 won't factory reset

I have reset before, but now it won't. I pushed in the factory reset button for 5 seconds and nothing happens (before it would flash the lights) and the Power light is amber.

 

This switch hasn't even been used yet, it was a spare.

 

Please help. I would hate to think it never got to be used, especially now that I need it.

        Hello Conrad,

         

        In the past, some great community members showed on how these switches can be connected to the serial console/UART - i -guess- this is very similar with the GS724Tv2, GS724TPv2, ... in case these are acquired second hand so the warranty does not cover an exchange:

  • Was there any solution to this? I have the same problem. The switch won't initiate factory reset when factory reset button is pressed for 5s. Didn't try longer as I didn't want to erase the registration status.

      What exactly you want to address with the reset - and what was he effective result or effect?

       

      Have been unable reaching the switch Web UI or get back a ping from it's IP address?

       

      Please reiterate and provide mor details.

      Netgear product registration is can't be undone by any kind of reset.

        I wanted to perform a factory reset due to lost local device admin password. I can't access the web UI so tried the physical button procedure as per the manual. In there it states that that pressing factory reset for more than 1s but less than 10s doesn't affect registration but more than 10s wipes it and will need to be redone.
