VLAN Setup
Hello Netgear community, I just recently purchased a GS108Tv2 switch, and I'm trying to configure two VLANs on the switch. After configuring my PfSense box and my GS108Tv2 switch, I connected a PC ...

Hi thatnoobguy,
It seems that your VLAN configuration on the GS108Tv2 switch is correct. Let us isolate the problem. Here are the steps:
1. Disconnect the GS108Tv2 switch from the PfSense router.
2. Connect a PC directly to a port on the PfSense router that is a member of VLAN20.
3. Check if the PC gets a valid IP address from VLAN20 configured on the PfSense router. Check also if you can ping 192.168.20.1/24 and able to access the internet.
4. Connect a PC directly to a port on the PfSense router that is a member of VLAN30.
5. Check if the PC gets a valid IP address from VLAN30 configured on the PfSense router. Check also if you can ping 192.168.30.1/24 and able to access the internet.
Kindly answer the questions below:
a. From step 3, are you able to get a valid IP address from VLAN20? Are you able to ping 192.168.20.1/24 and able to access the internet?
b. From step 5, are you able to get a valid IP address from VLAN30? Are you able to ping 192.168.30.1/24 and able to access the internet?
c. What is the current firmware version of the GS108Tv2?
I look forward to your response.

Hey DaneA,
Thanks for your advice on trouble shooting this problem! I do not know what I did last night, but somehow my configurations got really messed up. By using your trouble shooting checklist, I was able to figure out both problems that werecausing havoc on my network. One being pfsense static ip was /1 instead of /24, and the other was VLAN30's configuration somehow got erased. Oh plus, the firmware was 5.0.5.10 instead of 5.4.2.19 so I still have a lot of checks and double checks to do before putting pfsense/switch onto my network. I appreciate your help!
