Serial number transfer for used GC752X Inisght Managed switch
Hello all! I bought this used switch off ebay...
and the listing was as unused, however it is definitely used, and since it is an Insight manged switch it was registered to someone else. Based on the hostname I'm guessing a small motel of some sort. I have factory default reset it, but since it is Insight connected the configuration gets pulled down, so basically it in it's present state is useless to me. I have sent an email to netgear support seeing what is needed for me to have the Serial transferred, but if this is impossible the seller has agreed to refund me the item since he was under the assumption it was new-open-box. I'd really rather have this transferred into my account though, I am not worried about the warranty as I suspect it is out of warranty anyway and you generally dont buy used gear on eBay looking for an existing factory warranty :p
Kindly send the following via private message:
a. The serial number of your GC752X switch.
b. Attach a soft copy of the Proof of purchase of the GC752X switch.
c. What is the case number you got from NETGEAR Support since you have sent an e-mail to them?

PM sent :)
As you are in good faith with the seller, ask them to kindly remove the GC752X from their Insight account* - that's sufficient along with a factory reset so it will no longer fetch the previous owner config from the cloud. Device "ownership" as per my.netgear.com for warranty/support isn't required to be linked to the Insight account.
*In the App -> Devices select the device, scroll to the end, there is a [Remove] button.

So the seller on eBay was not the original owner, the description was...
"This has never been used, i purchased in a pallet of open box items. I did plug it in and tested functionality with a laptop. Works as new and expected.NETGEAR 52-Port Gigabit Ethernet Insight Managed Smart Cloud Switch GC752X. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail."I suspect the gentleman (or woman) is not a techie by profession since checking the hostname in a network scan showed the name as "hotel12u" somthing or another. the rack mount brackets were marred which indicated that it was mounted. More to the point, they were not the original owner and do not have the ability to remove it from their insight account.DaneA is looking into it with some information I have sent him so here is hoping this can be resolved relatively easy.
