switch not able to pass on internet and not being seen by the wizard utilities tool

Netgear FS728TS V1H1

Hello I have recently aquired a switch with the above mentioned model number.

I have replaced the power supply board internally afterwhich it boots up. However when I plug it into my network by putting a cat 5 network cable in my modem, the other end in the switch and a seperate cable from the switch to my laptop. I tried all ports to try to get internet acces, my laptop does not recognise the network and says it has no internet acces. When I put the cable from the modem directly in my laptop it does have internet acces.

I tried searching the default IP adress in my browser and it does not show anything.

The wizard utilities tool also does not detect anything.

The lights on the switch does light up when a RJ45 cable is inserted.

The light for stack master is most of the time showing.

The display shows a number 1 when giving it power and after some seconds it shows a number 4 on which it stays.

It feels like the switch is supposed to work but my computer is not recognising it as such.

I tried looking in the manual for clues and things to try but I could not figure it out.

This is my first managed switch so I don't know if the switch is broken or that I lack the skills of setting it up.

Does anyone know what to try to get it to work?

Seriously want to spend time and effort on such an old beast, where you don't even know its still operational and workable?

Your adventure could start here (as you already figured apparently). -> https://www.netgear.com/support/product/fs728ts#docs

First (and probably the last) action would be to locate the Factory Defaults Button - in hope the utility will be able to discover the switch then again, and give some basic controls over it's IP address on the SmartWizard Discovery
program, plus some (DHCP client, ...).

One point worth mentioning: FS726T Firmware Version 2.0.1_14 shows

Note: This firmware adds support of the new Smart Control Center to the switch. It does not contain any other enhancement or bug fix. Only upgrade to this firmware if you have downloaded and installed the Smart Control Center. The Smart Control Center software can be downloaded here. The upgrade process requires the use of the Smart Control Center software. Once the switch has been upgraded to this firmware, it can only be discovered and managed by the Smart Control Center and can no longer be discovered nor managed by the Smartwizard Discovery Utility.
