Netgear Smart Managed Plus and Smart Managed Pro automatically saving the config changes when applied. No "other" Cisco IOS here, or competitive units where users constantly forget to save changes and wonder where all the changes are gone following a reboot, power loss, ... There are pros and cons on every design.
Sorry to re-open the thread schumaku, but a quick follow up query, how in this case would you recover from a bad configuration setting?
Other than sending an engineer to site to factory reset?
If the unlucky admin is rendering the switch access to be no longer reachable - well, as I said. Pros and cons. A simple reboot by a local cable handler doesn't help.

In the scenario we have the switches are in a data center, in another town, which would require an engineer to go site to reset them.
Though, we we are able to power them off remotely via APC PDUs.
So perhaps the better question would be: how would you suggest performing 'potentially' damaging changes - which may require a roll back of settings and/or what would be the easiest way to do this.
I apologize for all the questions, but I have limited experience with said switches.
Doubt there is an answer - beyond of "mind the gap". Configs are updated permanently, no volatile/memory config - sigh.
