XS728T connects at 1Gbe

Every so often a connection will get interupted and when it gets reconnceted it will reconnect at 1Gbe rather than at 10Gbe. Sometimes simply unplugging and plugging back in fixes things but today that wasn't the case. I had to patch in to a different port on the switch and it then connected back up at 10Gbe. Do these things throttle down to 1Gbe when they get hot? Temp is currently at 59 and fans are saying things are normal.

Define "... a connection ...". Cabling, certain 1G/10G or MultiGig adapters with outdated driver and microcodes comes into my mind.
