GS108 vs. GS208 vs. GS608
I can see virtually no difference in specs between GS108/208/608 switches. Is any of these actually a superior product, or does the vendor just charge twice as much for adding 'Business class' to the...

Hi rdb,
Yes, all PROSAFE line has a higher MTBF compared to the SOHO versions and it has a lifetime hardware warranty that is why the price is a little different. Performance should be the same though they may have different hardware and chipsets, the GS208 is the newer version of the GS608 you may consider it as a cheaper hardware update.
Thanks,

Thanks, JohnRo!
Can you be any more specific about what you mean by 'designed for business and is able to withstand business environments'? Does this mean longer MTBF? Or better performance (bigger buffers, better switching technology, better jumbo packet support, etc.)?
I'm trying to figure out if it's worth spending about double for the 608 over the 208, or even slightly more for the 108, and there's just not enough info in the vendor's spec sheets to provide any plausible answer. Sounds like maybe the 208 is a newer, cheaper version of the 608 with identical performance, but even that is not particularly clear.
Thanks again,
Roger

Thanks for the followup, JohnRo. Sounds like there's no reason to buy the 608 then, and I should decide between the 208 and 108 largely on the perceived value of the lifetime warranty.
Thanks again!

Hi again rbd,
You're welcome!
Any of the two should work fine, it is just the matter on how long you think you will need an upgrade.
Have a great day!
Thanks,

Hi JohnRo,
In one Netgear ProSafe GS108 8-Port Switch box, there's a picture / image that shows the words "Gigabit Ethernet" printed in white and orange, and it includes an orange line underlying the word Gigabit and flanked to the left of the word Ethernet. The words appear in the carton right above the 5th and 6th ports (from left to right). Also, in the same carton, at the bottom right there is a single blue label "Netgear Lifetime Warranty".
In another Netgear ProSafe GS108 8-Port Switch box, there's a picture / image that does NOT show the words as seen in the above para. Also, in the carton's right corner there are three black labels "Lifetime Warranty", "Lifetime Tech Support" and "Lifetime Nextbusiness Day".
Since both the Switch boxes indicate GS108 8-Port, what is the difference(s) between them? Please explain. Thanks.
