Hi. I've been looking at buying two XS508Ms, but I've found out that the model is end of life and are no longer being manufactured. They're quite a big unit for just 9 (inc SFP+) ports. Does anyone know if NG are planning on releasing a newer, more compact 8 port 10gbe switch in the coming months at all? I've heard that the equivalent TP-Link (TL-SX1008) has a fan and can get quite noisy. I do love NG products and am loyal to them but I just can't wait forever. I've just bought an MS510TXM. Thanks in advance.215Views0likes3CommentsNeed advice for Desktop Switch
I’m looking for advice or direction on my office buildout. I’m looking for a 4 or 5 port Desktop Switch that has the link status LED’s on the front while keeping the ports on the back in a black color. The only one I see is only available in white. The reason for the black color is that all my peripherals are black and would blend seamlessly on my desk while having the LED’s on the front with the ports on back would allow me to hide the wiring and still be able to visually verify the network is connected without having to lift and turn the switch to view the link status LED’s. Any help or direction would greatly be appreciated. Thanks391Views0likes2CommentsFan Noise GS324P
Looking for 24 port switch with at least 8 POE+ ports. But I see that many units have fans. Can anyone confirm that the fan on the GS324P or other switch in this series - including managed like GS324TP - has a quiet fan suitable to use in an office environment where people sit and work close to the switch?Solved3KViews0likes11CommentsGS110MX 10Gb port how to use?
Hi, I am thinking of buying a GS110MX switch, but do not understand the datasheet. It states the two 10Gb ports are uplink ports. I have two PCs with 10Gb network cards, I am looking to connect them on the network to transfer data at 10Gb between each other and also access the Internet at 1Gb over the port connected to the cable modem/router. If I plug the twp PCs into the two 10Gb ports on the GS110MX will this work i.e. the two PCs will transfer data between themselves at 10Gb and also have access over the 1Gb connection to the modem/router? I am a bit confused by the datasheet's use of uplinks. Many thanks829Views0likes3CommentsFAN loud XS508M
Dear all, I hope I get some tips for my problem what I have and maybe many others. I bought a XS508M unmanaged switch, a nice one but I am in shock about the very very noisy fan inside. I like to use it in a study room where I work and my wife too. This is unacceptable noise in the room. Now I can do two things returning the switch or I replace the fan with some issues with my warranty . I searched the internet and see more people have fan issues with switches. Who can help me out what fan I can use to replace without troubles and like a plug and play solution if possible. I am technical so I can do it . I see Sanyo Denki and other brands but I like an easy swap and a quiet good cooling fan. Thank you for all the help.1.7KViews0likes4CommentsDoes GS308PP include a DHCP server ?
Hello NETGEAR Community, I want to connect several PoE-enabled devices to a network switch, and I got GS308PP recommended. Main Purpose: Surveillance IP PoE-enabled 4K cameras as "CCTV" solution. Therefore, the features I need for any network switch (at least) are: 1. IP addresses automatically provissioning (DHCP server embedded). 2. Gigabit speed. 3. PoE (I don't know how much max power is required) ** No VLANs, QoS are needed. 1. Does this model meet these requirements ? 2. What is the best recommendation for me based on my need ? Your advice is welcome. LeMike2.3KViews0likes6CommentsGS116 v1 v/s v2 and packet buffer confusions
Hi, When I look up GS116 (unmanaged 16-port GigE switch), I see two options: GS116v1 and GS116v2. Datasheet for GS116v1 says it has packet buffer of 512KB per port (means 8 Mbytes for entire switch). Datasheet for GS116v1 says it has packet buffer of 256KB (does not say per-port or for the entire switch) But both datasheets say that the ordering number is GS116NA for the North America version. That is very confusing: a. How can two models (v1 and v2) have the same ordering number ? Or is v2 the currently shipping version and v1 is obsoleted ? b. If v2 is the newly shipping version, why is its packet buffer size half of the v1 unit ? c. Is 256KB packet buffer listed for GS116v2 for the entire switch or per-port (i.e. 4M bytes for the entire 16-port switch) d. Or are both v1 and v2 different versions with different packet buffer sizes and I can buy either one ? (they have the same ordering code (GS116NA though) e. Another link on netgear web site ( https://www.netgear.com/business/wired/switches/unmanaged/gs116/ ) shows under "Specs" that the packet buffer size is 2MB (i.e. 128KB per port) which adds more confusion. Does this product have packet buffer of 128KB per port or 256KB (per port of entire device) or 512KB per port ? I hope someone can clarify. Thank you Anoop H.1.6KViews0likes1CommentGS116PP vs GS116LP
Hi, I have an opportunity to buy the GS116PP from Amazon UK at a price that's cheaper than the GS116LP. I am concerned that the PP model will use more power than I need and I just want to know if the power consumption is managed by the demand from the connected devices. I know the primary differences between the two models (PoE budget mainly) so I suppose I'd just like to know if buying the 183w compared to the 76w is a no-brainer if it's cheaper? I will primarily be using the switch to add ethernet ports around my house and IP cameras etc but I also have 2 AP's which have about 8 clients each. In total I have approx 45-50 devices connected at any one time. I use a Deco M9 mesh network (3x M9 + 1x M5) for my connections. Many.thanks.2.8KViews0likes1CommentGS108 vs GS308 unmanages switches
Question: What are any significant differences between the GS108 and GS308 ? I want to buy an unmanaged gigabit switch, I am in the UK I have searched various sites and seen statements such as: - only the warranty is different - GS108 has better build quality (metal case) - one site says GS108 has "passive cooling" and GS308 has no cooling. -finally, one site says GS308 is the big brother and says it has "auto negotiation function" , no block switching architecture" and "auto MDI/MDIX functions" without saying if these are not features of the GS108. (of course, if I do not know what a feature is, perhaps it could be argued that I do not need it - I just want a fast, reliable, straightforward switch that will be used for streaming data, remote log-ins and regular internet traffic for email etc. I see both switches currently available on AmazonUK, both with metal case and PRosafe warranty. Any straightforward advice/answswers welcome. Thanks.Solved21KViews0likes1Comment
