Hi. I've been looking at buying two XS508Ms, but I've found out that the model is end of life and are no longer being manufactured. They're quite a big unit for just 9 (inc SFP+) ports. Does anyone know if NG are planning on releasing a newer, more compact 8 port 10gbe switch in the coming months at all? I've heard that the equivalent TP-Link (TL-SX1008) has a fan and can get quite noisy. I do love NG products and am loyal to them but I just can't wait forever. I've just bought an MS510TXM. Thanks in advance.215Views0likes3CommentsNeed advice for Desktop Switch
I’m looking for advice or direction on my office buildout. I’m looking for a 4 or 5 port Desktop Switch that has the link status LED’s on the front while keeping the ports on the back in a black color. The only one I see is only available in white. The reason for the black color is that all my peripherals are black and would blend seamlessly on my desk while having the LED’s on the front with the ports on back would allow me to hide the wiring and still be able to visually verify the network is connected without having to lift and turn the switch to view the link status LED’s. Any help or direction would greatly be appreciated. Thanks391Views0likes2CommentsFan Noise GS324P
Looking for 24 port switch with at least 8 POE+ ports. But I see that many units have fans. Can anyone confirm that the fan on the GS324P or other switch in this series - including managed like GS324TP - has a quiet fan suitable to use in an office environment where people sit and work close to the switch?Solved3KViews0likes11CommentsS3300-28X EOL replacement
The S3300-28X is about EOL, original i would like to have the GS728TPv3 as the replacement. Everything looks good but if found that the bandwidth is a huge different. For S3300-28X, it is 128Gbps, bug GS728TPv3 only got 56Gbps. And i found similar grade with the bandwidth is XS728T, but it is much more expensive. Could you recommend some good alternative of S3300-28Xm4500 - Idle power / idle noise level - not listed in specs (M4500-48XF8C)
I realize this is a top of the line switch and not expected to be quiet or low power draw, however the only information I can find in the PDF spec sheet are the maximums (ie: max power draw w all ports in use = ~394 watts, maximum ambient noise at 77 Fahrenheit = ~ 67 decibels) My question is (even if a rough estimation), what is the idle power draw as well as the ambient noise level for a netgear M4500-48XF8C (assume 4x optics or even no optics, installed) - I'm just trying to get some rough idea. The PDF specs do say there is some kind of fan user fan control, as well as the noise level is reduced when both power supplies are connected to mains voltage (but no details beyond that are given). thanksSolved1.1KViews0likes3CommentsGS110MX 10Gb port how to use?
Hi, I am thinking of buying a GS110MX switch, but do not understand the datasheet. It states the two 10Gb ports are uplink ports. I have two PCs with 10Gb network cards, I am looking to connect them on the network to transfer data at 10Gb between each other and also access the Internet at 1Gb over the port connected to the cable modem/router. If I plug the twp PCs into the two 10Gb ports on the GS110MX will this work i.e. the two PCs will transfer data between themselves at 10Gb and also have access over the 1Gb connection to the modem/router? I am a bit confused by the datasheet's use of uplinks. Many thanks829Views0likes3CommentsFAN loud XS508M
Dear all, I hope I get some tips for my problem what I have and maybe many others. I bought a XS508M unmanaged switch, a nice one but I am in shock about the very very noisy fan inside. I like to use it in a study room where I work and my wife too. This is unacceptable noise in the room. Now I can do two things returning the switch or I replace the fan with some issues with my warranty . I searched the internet and see more people have fan issues with switches. Who can help me out what fan I can use to replace without troubles and like a plug and play solution if possible. I am technical so I can do it . I see Sanyo Denki and other brands but I like an easy swap and a quiet good cooling fan. Thank you for all the help.1.7KViews0likes4CommentsAbout CLI syntax
Hi, I need supply some GSM4352PA Switches to my customer and since they are also configurable via CLI, the customer's IT manager asks me if the syntax used is the same as that of CISCO. I contacted the NETGEAR support and was told that they are "CISCO LIKE"; however, despite my insistence, I could not understand if LIKE means "SIMILAR" or "EQUAL." There is a big difference!!! Thanks to those who can give me some clarification.. Best RegardsSolved1.1KViews0likes2CommentsShould people be held morally responsible for their actions when influenced by external factors
Ethical responsibility depends on the extent to which individuals can exercise moral agency. While upbringing and mental health can influence behavior, ethical assessments should consider whether the individual had the capacity to make choices, understand consequences, and act accordingly. Society should also strive to provide support and rehabilitative measures where appropriate.428Views0likes0CommentsManaged switch - prohibit the connection of certain IP addresses to other IP addresses
Hi all ! I was wondering, with managed switches, if we are able to specify which IP adress should be allowed to connect to another. For example : 192.168.1.xxx is only allowed to be reached by *192.168.1.yyy* If I can do this using MAC adresses, it would be even more interesting. Thanks !Solved1.4KViews0likes3Comments
