Very unlikely also the replacement GS308 should be faulty. These switches are simply unmanaged devices, pretty much reliable. Anything else (like your concerns on DHCP and IP addresses) happen on the router.
Start with some basic troubleshooting on "EVERYONE loses Ethernet connection" - the GS308 does certainly have some port LEDs indicating the Ethernet link status and the activity.
Is the switch touched or moved when connecting of of these other computers? This is to exclude some potential wonky Ethernet cable or connectors on either side - if all devices are affected, not only look at the uplink, also check if the power supply and the power LED are OK.
Not much (read: almost nothing) Netgear support could analyze - you should be able to "see" what is going on in case the switch or it's connections are affected.
