Mixed PoE network
I have an Ethernet network with an Ubiquiti Unifi 8 port PoE switch connected to Unifi WAPs around the house. I need to introduce a non-PoE hub to control my heating. That's all the system supplier...

Different from the TS-8-PRO the GS305P are IEEE standards compliant PoE switches which can be used to connect your heating system Ethernet controller.
For the TS-8-PRO, keep in mind these are non-standards compliant devices where passive PoE (24V or 48V DC) power can always remain active on the ports. Talk to your supplier or Ubiquity for compatibility questions. We don't want to burn our fingers (or your new hardware connected) providing possibly wrong information.

Thanks for that reply schumaku.
I was trying to avoid problems by taking the live PoE feed from the TS-8-PRO into the GS305P PoE port, then supplying the heating hub from the non-PoE port on the GS305P. So, I am only asking about whether the GS305P can handle that input and output. I realise that this is the wrong place to ask about the TS-8-PRO.

Without an IEEE standard PoE switch feeding the network GS305P, feeding a non-PoE-aware Ethernet of this unknown Lightwave device hub, I can't see any reason why the GS305P and the Lightwave Hub should not behave like yet another standard Gigabit switch.

I just wasn't sure if the non-PoE port on the Netgear GS305P switch was intended for this type of use. I already have GS105 (non-PoE) switches connected to my PoE network.
The heating hub in question uses both Zigbee and Z-wave and has its own power supply. I'm not sure about the reference to Lightwave.

Hi Schumaker
Thanks for your help and patience. I am a structural engineer, so my knowledge of electronics and networking is not strong.
There seem to be separate strands to your first sentence.
1. You have reservations about connecting a non-IEEE switch to the GS305P.
2. "feeding a non-PoE-aware Ethernet of this unknown Lightwave device hub"
I accept point 1, but I am prepared to take the risk. I presume the GS306P could be damaged. That would be at my risk and cost.
On point 2, is it the case that if the heating hub is connected to the non-PoE port of the GS305P, that it will receive no power. Firstly, the Ethernet wires will not have any charge, secondly, the heating hub port has no power wiring connected internally.
FYI, the device is a Genius Hub.

My concern was related to the previous mentioned passive PoE make and model. Not much concerns when we're staying in the IEEE PoE world.
Didn't intend to cause confusion my friend! Sorry in case.
