GSS108EPP - POE connecting with X50-POE

So I have had the GSS108EPP for a few years and decided to get my first POE device a Deco X50 POE, so I tried to connect this to either of the first 4 ports which supplies Poe but the poe device is not powering on, I have tried directly with a Cat 6 or 5e cable (so a short cable), is there something that needs to be setup to get Poe to start up or should it work out the box?

In the admin page I got the same setup for each port the output power says 0.2w (see example below), thought it would supply more if asked by the poe device:

Switch says:

The GSS108EPP switch can supply up to 30W PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) to any of the ports 1–4, with a total maximum PoE power budget of 47W across all active PoE+ ports.

and the

X50 suggests power supply IEEE 802.3at Poe

so should work?

  • New switch now showing the following, so a replacement resolved my issue:

    Enable

    IEEE 802

    25 (Temp)

    No Error (fault status)

Thank you  schumaku for your help and advise.

All four pairs correctly patched and workable?

Output voltage and power indicated very wrong. Some problem with the PoE handshake, the PoE controller on the switch.

    GSS108EPP firmware version?

Attempted a factory reset of the switch already?

If nothing helps, please head to https://my.netgear.com/ ... select your GSS108EPP serial number ... and follow the [Request Hardware Support] process.

More a curiosity question to exclude a possible hardware issue: An external power supply (I assume there is a more or less standard power plug) does allow to operate the X50?

      Guide

Thanks for the response, i'm using Belkin cables so hoping there patched properly (also tried one that came with the X50 Poe device so a none Belkin ethernet cable)

Firmware for the switch is: V1.0.0.22 (so latest)

The X50 comes with a standard power supply and have got it working with that, thought lets see if the Poe works, as trying to refrain of adding another power plug.

Haven't tried a factory reset so will backup my settings and see if that helps. Thanks

        Guide

So went into the maintenance menu and factory default but the poe configuration seems to be the same as per my first thread. No power going into the X50 Poe device.

Will raise a request with Netgear, currently struggling as getting "The chat queue is busy right now. Try again soon"  but will see if they can provide any advise once i get through.

        thanks again
