Firewall on Mesh?
Question: My Dad just moved into an assisted living facility that offers public Wi-Fi, with no wired network connections in the room. It is an all-inclusive facility (Wi-Fi, Cable, Meals, Etc.)
I am concerned about his devices that are connecting to the network - there is no encryption on the network with no passwords for the community. I am trying to set up a system to be able to place in his room to have some security to block all inbound traffic and firewall it.
There is no password for the network and what stops an individual from connecting in the parking lot and connecting and taking advantage of the community - I want to make my Dad more secure.
without a hardwired connection, your best bet is to pickup a travel router that has wisp mode.
then you can use the built in firewall or even use a vpn if you'd like.
