FVS318G & X4 - How to setup to work together
Hi. I'm setting up a home & home business network and I'm looking for advice. I recently purchased the X4 router, the FVS318G VPN firewall switch, 1000 feet of cat5, a few hundred feet of cat6, and a few arris modems/routers (we only have 1 connection though) which are being used like switches. Our kids have some wifi cell phones and an ipad (less secure devices) which will use wifi, and all of our audio/video/gaming equipment is wired in. All of the business equipment is wired in another room. We also have a few large surge protectors /battery backups and two 5 terrabyte storage devices.
If my main concern is security, how should I configure this network.

Hello TCL,
Welcome to the community!
The FVS318G is a router itself and can be used as a DHCP server. The X4 router and the arris modems are more likely less-secure compared to the FVS318G. The best advice I could give is to let the FVS318G be the main router. What will happen is you will connect the FVS318G to your ISP's modem and let it be the router on top. The setup will be like this ISP Modem>FVS318G>X4(configured as pass through AP - DHCP turned off)>Arris(DHCP turned off).
I hope this information helps you decide, let us know if you have more questions.
Thanks,
