I have the FVS336G installed to load balance between two internet providers (small office) The admin page is SSL secured with a self signed NetGear CA certificate - After I add this certificate into my trusted list in Windows the browser complains about it using an obsolete cipher suite. I am concerned at some point these browsers are going to shut down access to this NetGear Firewall I tried installing a self signed root CA cert and signing the FVS336G generated request with it - but it must only be used with VPN as it did not change the certificate used by the admin page. Is there a way to update this admin certificate? Or maybe a way to disable SSL - I have no interest in remote managing the FVS336G. Is there a way to SSH into the firewall and swap out a certificate file or something? ...Dale PS: I have the latest firmware installed.Solved11KViews0likes11CommentsSite to site iPSec VPN with two BR500 VPN router
Need help! We're an elementary non-profit school with 2 small campuses. We have been using Netgear SRX5308 router in one campus and a Netgear BR500 router on the other campus. It has been running fine for the last 3 years+ with an IPSec VPN. We recently had problems with the SRX5308 and replaced it with an used BR500. Although we set up the replacement BR500 with the same settings as the other one, it would not establish the VPN. We checked and tried the following already without any success: 1) Firmware on both routers are the same at V5.10.0.5. 2) We had a slight custom Phase 1 and 2 VPN parameter settings but changed it to the default ones per the Netgear user manual. 3) We changed each site as Initiator and Responder combinations 4) Both routers are behind Comcast modem/router and we tried opened the firewall completely. We would appreciate any suggestions what we may have missed. Thank you in advance for the help! SunSolved5.4KViews0likes7CommentsBR500 Installation Problem
I have a new BR500, and I understand it should find the insight cloud simply by plugging it into internet access. I've done that both on the LAN side of my existing router and directly to the WAN modem. The instructions say both should work, but neither one works for me. I have subscribed to the Insight VPN Service, but the BR500 dashboard continually shows "Access to cloud is not available" and "Access to Insight VPN is not available". I have a VPN service SKU/Key but have no idea what to do with it. I've tried the Setup Wizard but it insists on trying to upgrade the firmware even though I already installed the latest. There is no way to skip this step. I tried searching the forum help but have not found any useful help. Can someone tell me what to do next to try to fix this?2.6KViews0likes3CommentsBr500 VPN appliance as secondary router
I'm looking for setup advice for 2 Br500 routers to establish site to site VPN. Both sites already have a router in place for their broadband. Br500 documentation says it can be setup as a secondary router cnnected to an existing lan. Site 1 Lan Router / Lan Gateway address 192.168.1.254 Site 2 Lan Router / Lan Gateway address 192.168.2.1 The manual does not offer much advice in setting up the router in this scenario. I'm wondering if anyone has applied this type of setup and if so, based on above sites - how do I setup the router so that I can see beyond the remote Br500 onto the other site lan. thanks1.4KViews0likes1CommentDual wan port link aggregation
I have a generic pfsense firewall machine with 2 wan and 2 lan ports. I know how to set up a load balancing system on both wan ports. But I wonder how to set up a link aggregated system on both wan ports (not lan ports) as my isp is willing to offer link aggregation on both wan ports. I know this should technically be possible, because I use a FreeBSD machine behind the firewall on which I also use link aggregation, what can be setup in the /etc/rc.conf file, which is very easy to do. As there are no menu options for wan link aggregation in pfSense itself I suppose it can be done trough the command line interface. But pfSense differs from FreeBSD as /etc/rc.conf seems not to be excisting. Is there anybody here who can tell me how to setup dual wan port link aggregation on my pfSense machine? Thank you in advance for any comments2.3KViews0likes1CommentBR500 Security and Port Forwarding
I am installing 2 BR500 to replace some old equipment. The VPN was easy but need some other advise. I need to open seveal ports and forward the traffic to a server. I can do that but cannot find anyway to restrict, either by public IP or MAC address, who can get in. I have been able to specify this in the past on other Netgear products. Don't know what I am missing. Tech support was of no help. Appriciate any suggestions.1.7KViews0likes1CommentBR500 Option 66 Support
Just replaced my FVS336Gv3 with a BR500 and since it seems that no one from Netgear responded to my review thread, I will take a stab on a new topic: Option 66 for VoIP phones. Does the BR500 support this? I ran a search through the PDF Manual but did not see anything on this. Since "upgrading" to the BR500 and replacing one of my GS110TP switches with the GC510PP, one of my Polycom VVX 1500 phones has not been syncing with my FreePBX. Side note: I just swapped the GC510PP over the weekend, it was having issues for a week and a half before.2.4KViews0likes2CommentsUTM50 RESET and Firmware Update Failing -Device Abandoned!!!
