FVS336Gv2 Internet browsing problems

I have an FVS336Gv2 setup with Comcast on WAN1 and Verizon FiOS on WAN2. The WAN mode is set for auto-rollover with WAN1 as the primary. The firmware is 3.0.7-24. Web browsing is horribly unreliable. The browser hangs indefinitely on multiple computers and different browsers. (IE and Firefox) Speedtests are unreliable at Speedtest.net. However, Pingtest.net comes back with A line quality. These problems started right after the router was installed. It is not being used for much else. (No VPN, port-forwarding etc.) It was mainly selected for the dual-WAN functionality. Any ideas?

  • We're having the same issue, except that:
    a) we have the WAN mode set for load balancing, and
    b) it was working fine for months -- now we're suddenly having just http browsing issues.

I've switched ports and tested both WAN's independently and everything is fine. Its just when we put the WAN mode back into load balancing do the problems occur.

    Thanks,Kris
  • I am having a similar problem with my firewall after updating it. What is happening is the firewall is silently ending the connect and reconnecting randomly. This will hang a browser every time. This is also making my Linux phone server very unhappy. I am having to completely restart this server when it happens.

Solution: Completely restored my firewall using the reset button. Then loaded my configuration backup without updating it all the way. (I had older updates still on hand). After all of this everything seems to work fine. Must be something with the update.
