FVX538 v2? Lockup on Gigabit Wan Port
This just started happening... I have a FVX538 V2? (I ? the V2 because i bought it as a V2 New, but its not taking latest v2 firmware, and supposedly there are some v1's misbranded out there)..
I have a netgear gigabit 8 port switch plugged into the gigabit LAN port. This was working fine for years.. Now all of a sudden, its hard locking the LAN ports after 5 mins of up time, if that. If i take the plug out of the gigabit port and plug it into the LAN ports (10/100) it works fine. The gigabit switch is working fine on its own.. It seems the FVX338 locks so hard that when you take the wires out of the ports, the lights remain lit solid (even if the Wan1 light is flashing activity).
They dont make the fvx358 anymore and it seems the new cable/dsl gigabit firewall is not as robust and or fast.. What should i do? I don't want to get dumped with another V1 router?! Is the port fried? I re-updated to the last firmware that it can take .29? and as i said i leave it in the 10/100 ports it works just fine.
Of note, when the gigabit port locks up all the lan ports lock up.
Please help as i need to make a decision on this today.. Thanks.

- aditMentorHook up a console cable and watch the boot process for the amount of memory. It will tell you whether it's a v1 or v2. http://forum1.netgear.com/showpost.php?p=167467&postcount=2 http://forum1.netgear.com/showpost.php?p=411321&postcount=5 http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=31397&highlight=leaking+capacitors
