I foolishly paid the $200 for a "firewall"
I just had the same experience . I foolishly paid the $200 for a "firewall".
Why is the quick set up included in the box with the equipment with the scammers phone number? shouldn't Netgear protection us from this or are they part of the scam?
I have used NetGear for many years but now I am skeptical of them.
I expect better from such a large co. Very upset and disappointed!

Can you explain that? What was the number?
This is the first time that anyone has reported seeing this on the quick set up details.
People usually end up on those scam sites because they search for "Netgear support" or something similar. They then call the number that they find. That number is nothing to do with Netgear.
What device were you trying to set up? You get free set up support for the first 90 days after you buy something new.
Have you complained to the people you called? How about reporting it to your credit card company?
