IPSEC VPN Client 5.1 not working

I am having an issue with my VPN client on a Windows 7 workstation.  I can configure the client, but it is NOT connecting to the SRX5308.  The IPSEC client is version 5.1.  I have an error message in the lower left corner stateing "Can Not Start IKE".  I've never seen this before.  I've tried fresh from scratch configuration, importing from a known good version, and also using the Wizard with the same results.  I turned of my firewall thinking that may be the issue, but it's not.  I can connect to the website from a browser without any problems.

Any insight would be appreciated.

  • Hi BrunoCorazon,

    Kindly answer the questions below:

    a. Have you tried using other Windows 7 PC to isolate the problem?

    b. Is there an anti-virus installed in the Windows 7 workstation? If yes, have you tried to disable or uninstall it then check if same problem occurs?

    c. Have you tried using the latest version of the ProSAFE VPN Client Professional which is v6.12.001?  If not yet, you may download it here.

I look forward to your response.

      Hello,

I had to install a version from the 5.x release train.  If I had gone to version 6.x or above, that constitutes a MAJOR RELEASE and would therefore require a purchase.  That's according to documentation I found on the Netgear website.

When I saw the error message in the lower left portion of the client window saying that IKE was not ready, I knew it had to be the client software.  But that was of course after turning off all the firewall software, and using a Win10 computer.

      Thanks.

        Hi BrunoCorazon,

I believe that if ever you have already purchased a VPN license from NETGEAR, you should be able to upgrade to the latest version of the ProSAFE VPN Client Professional which is 6.12.001.  Kindly try it.

        Regards,
