port forwarding on FVS336gv3
I migrated from a sonicwall to Netgear FVS336Gv3, I´m configuring port fordwarding to permit RDP (in a special port 3839) and NAS (8080). I created a Service for each port, then created a service ...
- Jun 30, 2016Have you checked the network settings of the client? Check especially default gateway but also things like firewall. An incorrect set default gateway = works locally but not from Internet.
You can also run wireshark on the client to make sure traffic hits it. The log indicates that the message is being forwarded, the fact that port testers show it as offline means that nothing responds on that port. Which is likely to be an issue on the client rather than he firewall. Packet captures would be able to prove this; do a LAN packet capture on the fvs336gv3 from the diagnostics page, if you see the traffic go out the LAN but nothing coming back the issue is with the client or something in between.

Hello,
I try with this applications. Both ports are offline/unreachable:
- The checked port (3839, service amx-rms) is offline/unreachable
- The checked port (8080, service webcache) is offline/unreachable

Hi opeinado,
I believe there is a modem connected to the WAN port of your FVS336Gv3. Is that modem a modem-only device or a combination of modem-router? If ever the modem is a combination of modem-router, you will need to configure port forwarding on it then check again if the ports will now be online/reachable using the online port checker tool.

Hello,
Yes I have a modem/router with the internet connection.
I have this IP like the DMZ https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwS37xPMdkQLYWJPeDFVR0JpdHM
And this port forwarding configured https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwS37xPMdkQLRm1MeVVDU2pITnMIn firewall I have this WAN connection https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwS37xPMdkQLTUlFbVhES0h1Tmc
I have this network address 192.168.2.x in the router, and this network address 192.168.1.x in the LAN (server, computer, nas...), this is becouse the firewall don´t permit to put the same network address in LAN and WAN, so I have to changed.
Before, when I have the sonicwall firewall, I have the same network address 192.168.1.x for all components.

Kindly answer the questions below:
a. Does your modem/router have a dedicated DMZ port where the FVS336Gv3 should be connected to?
b. Does your modem/router supports DMZ-WAN rules? If yes, then this is where you should set rules on your modem/router web-GUI.
If ever your modem/router does not have a dedicated DMZ port and it does not support DMZ-WAN rules, I think it would be best that you configure the modem/router on full-bridge mode so that it will be as a modem-only device. In this way, the WAN IP Address will be registered on the FVS336Gv3. Thus, making the FVS336Gv3 as the main firewall router. In this way, the ports you have opened on the FVS336Gv3 will show as online/reachable via the online port checker tool.

Hello,
I will test this wednesday afternoon. I will try to change the IP address 192.168.2.x. becouse I read in a blog, that the fiber optic router can use this IP address to comunicate with the ONT.
If this change don´t work correctly I try to put the router on full-bridge.
