The trouble there is that "bridge mode" means different things in different contexts. Netgear's own devices have at least three different "bridge modes".
In "modem only" bridge mode – also called passthrough mode in some circumstances – the wifi is off. (It needs active router mode to work.) So when an ISP says that we are left wondering what this really means.
I've decided to give the BR200 a try. While the supply chain is rattled due to chip shortage I am going to do what I can to get one. Since this is a small business setting and the goal is to get 2+ VLANS it seems reasonable to start with a business router.
That seems to be sound thinking. You are trying to do something that is beyond the scope of standard domestic devices. A business device makes much sense.
