Adding WAX220 APs to RS700 Router
Hello everyone.... I've moved into a new, rather large property over three floors. My Nighthawk RS700 is in the middle floor and I have hard wired network cables running to both the ground and top floors where I'd like to install the two WAX220 APs that I already have.
I do a lot of roaming around the house with my laptop and I'd like to set the WAX220's up using the same single SSID that is being broadcast from the RS700 so that I'm free to roam around and have my laptop pickup the strongest signal wherever I happen to be.
Is this possible with the gear that I have? Is it as simple as plugging them in and giving them the same SSID and password as the RS700, or do I have to change some other settings. If I do have to change settings, I would be extremely grateful with advice as to what to change as I've never used APs before and always just gone with a more powerful router... unfortunately for me it's not quite up to the job on its own, hence the acquisition of the WAX220's which I picked up super cheap.
Any help would be much appreicated.
Thanks
Gary

You should be able to set them up and enable their fast roaming features.
A couple things with it though.
1. set them all on different channels to reduce interference
2. they might not be as efficient at roaming as an integrated mesh system. but most devices own roaming protocols will help with the roaming
3. you've already got them so might as well give it a shot and try it. Worse you're out is some time.
