Getting sub-standard WAX630 downlink speeds / random drops
Hello, I recently upgraded from a set of 3 WAX620s to a set of 3 WAX630s. Based on the specs I should be seeing, roughly, the same up and down speeds but the WAX630s are performing well below wh...

Hi jason_t
It shouldn't be like that. Could you please share more details? Wireless client details? Are you performing the speed test or something different?
While performing speed test ensure your WAX620s are powered off. Please send me the detailed logs from monitoring page and send me link to download via PM for the connectivity drop issue.
BTW : Are you using Insight to manage your APs?
Thanks,
Raghu

Raghu,
Appreciate the response. I would be happy to provide more details. Throughput testing was done to an iperf3 server on my LAN. I ran tests using: iPad Air (4th Gen), Intel AX201 based laptop and an Intel AX210 based laptop. I took throughput measurements from multiple spots in my home using the WAX630s and throughput was generally at least 100 mbps below what I was getting from the WAX620s and around 150-200 mbps below what I had seen from the AX6000 Orbi with everything positioned in the exact same spots (and all other traffic being relatively equal). I am using Insight to manage the APs.
I am including heatmaps of my first floor which seems to illustrate the problem pretty well. I had 3 APs positioned in the exact same spots throughout the house and used the exact same client (Intel AX201 based laptop) to take measurements in Netspot. Settings for the WAX620s and WAX630s were, from what I could tell, identical short of the additional radio that the 630s provide. These heatmaps are showing overall signal level and are only showing the 5GHz spectrum. I turned off the 2.4GHz overlay.
WAX630 - 1st Floor
WAX620 - 1st Floor (NOTE: The access point that is shown at the bottom of the stairs that is highlighted does not exist, this was placed by Netspot using signal strength. The actual AP is on the 2nd floor)
I will send you a PM with a link to logs per your request.
If you need additional detail just let me know and I would be happy to provide it.
Thanks Raghu
