WAC104 - No internet, Secured

We have two WAC104 wireless access points. One works great, no issues, always let's you get to the internet. The second one, however, does not let anyone to the internet all of a sudden. It was working fine last week and yesterday it started this issue. I reset it to factory default and applied the settings from the other one using the backup file. Using the same laptop I can connect to the internet through #1 but not through #2.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Jessica

  • So I didn't get a chance to take it home last night but I found the issue today and you were right!!! There was a rule missing from the firewall giving it access to the outside world. I honestly thought that was the first rule I created, and maybe I did and it just didn't save it, or maybe I didn't. I have no idea. All I know now is that I added the rule and now I have access to the internet.

I am still wondering how it was working when I first connected it. LOL

Thank you so much for all of your help. It is truly appreciated!!

    All the best,

    Jessica

What router do you have it connected to?

Have you checked in the primary router if its assigning an ip address to the AP?
Are you able to log into the AP and check its settings?

Maybe something in the firmware was corrupt. Did you try reinstalling the firmware and then doing a clean install (not from backup)?

      Guide

It is connected to the firewall. I have assigned an IP address. It says there is no firmware available for it that I could find. I can connect to it with no issues. I didn't install firmware. I created a backup of the settings from the one that is working and restored them to this one.

When I first set it up last week we were able to connect to the internet with no issues with it. Yesterday it made everything public so that it says secured, no internet.

      Thanks,

      Jessica

        "connected to the firewall".

Do you have a router before the firewall? If so, connect it there (for testing). See if a standard router is giving it a connection for testing. If it connects and works fine that route, something in the firewall is blocking.
