Mesh Topology Preferred Backhaul Ignored
Can anyone tell me why the "Preferred Backhaul" setting seems to be ignored for Mesh Toplogy? I've set mine to 2.4ghz yet the WAX610 "Extender" appears to be connecting over 5ghz to the other WAX610 ...

Hi FINITEREX
When the preferred backhaul configuration is set from the Insight UI, then the extender will try to connect with the configured preferred root AP in the preferred band for 1 minute. If it is unable to establish a mesh connection within that time then the flag will be reset.Next Extender will fall back to the auto mode and try to establish the connection with the root in the order of 5GHz High, 5GHz Low, and 2.4GHz. In this way, the extender could have established Mesh in the 5GHz band.
Please download the detailed logs from both AP's monitoring UI and send it to me via PM.
Thanks,
Raghu

Hi RaghuHR
I have checked and the extender is always falling back to 5ghz auto, no matter that I set to prefer 2.4ghz. I've tried this with the APs next to each other in the bench. Appears this functionality is buggy.

Hi RaghuHR ,
Apologies for delayed response; I decided to stop using mesh backhaul as I just can't get it to work reliably, I've instead gone to ethernet backhaul a'la normal networking.
IMHO mesh WiFi is one of those techs that no one has yet really gotten to work properly (I've the "pleasure" of experience across mutliple vendors in the SME space and none seem to work reliably)... maybe one day someone will crack it but given the variables involved with WiFi I have my doubts :)
