RBE970 wired backhaul

Been trying for a few days to get one of the Satellites to connect with a 10Gbe wired backhaul. The culprit is the add on. Lastest FW, brand new system. It will connect plugged in directly to 973 router 10Gb port but I have a Netgear 10GBe managed switch between the router and the satellite in question at its intended location. It goes to configuring sync and stays there. The literature says you can use a switch and I did so with no problems same location with the 960 system . I’ve reset everything multiple times and on initial set up it shows wired but will not complete configure synch. After initial set up subsequent pairing goes to 5GHz only with Ethernet connected. It will connect 5GHz+6GHz wirelessly. Router is on first floor and satellite in question is on second floor in the room directly above about 30ft away and through a floor. Home is 3500 square ft. Took it awhile to update the FW through wireless connection in same room before I took it upstairs even though the web UI and IOS app both showed jt already had the current FW. I’m not getting that the 960 with 3 satellites worked with zero issues plugged into the same port on intermediary switch yet the 970 just won’t do it. When I did show it connected wirelessly the first time o thought it would sort itself out but 24 hours later still configuring synch. Evidently there is a connection or I wouldn’t get that far. Dont know if there is a glitch with this being new tech and just needs a new generation of FW to correct. For now it appears it’s just going to be wireless. I was just looking to offload at least that satellite from the wireless backhaul as the 10Gbe has been in place for a desktop and NAS as well as some 1Gb connections for a few years now. All running cat8 cable. Everything on the wired network works but that one Orbi 970 Satellite.

We have a fix for Managed Switch issue. You do not need to do any changes on Orbi side. However, there is probability some managed switch might have looping protection, this will need to be disable. We will be writing a KB article regarding this. In the meantime, please reach out to me directly to receive latest firmware with the managed switch fix

    Hi There,

Engineering Team here. We currently have issues with managed switch. We are looking to fix this as soon as possible in the next firmware release. Please note latest firmware is V9.10.2.3. This does not have fix for managed switch. In the meantime if can use an unmanaged switch that will be great or use wireless Backhaul. Once we have a fix I will share firmware with you directly so you can use your managed switch right away.

    • Thank you for the response. The only reason I went with a managed switch was because it has 10Gbe capabilities and when I had my nighthawk X10 there was an SFP connection from router to switch. There are no restrictions set up on the switch, It’s a netgear and just like it was as it came out of the box. Since my Nighthawk has been retired it’s a cat8 feeding into the switch from the 970 Router. There is still one SFP connection to my NAS. The switch is a Netgear Prosafe XS708T.
I suspected there was an issue that hasn’t been addressed as this exact configuration worked flawlessly with the Orbi 960.

Thanks again for the reply, I’ll just continue to run that satellite with a wireless backhaul and wait for a FW update that addresses this issue.

Check this manages switch Web UI for the following features, IGMP protocol and Green Ethernet. If his switch has these two items and are adjustable, disable them and see if this helps the RBS with ethernet backhaul.
