Buyer Beware! Features are NOT included.

I feel a bit scammed.  I recently needed to replace my current modem as my existing Netgear Modem didn't allow me to access Admin to change the password which I desperately needed to do due to security issues.  After several hours on google and then an hour with a non Netgear support person - who was amazing - we couldn't crack getting into 'Admin'.  So I bought a new modem.  Not being tech savy - I looked at reviews.  I looked at my requirements.  I looked at my budget.  One of the features that drew me to the Nighthawk RAX30, AX2400 was the NETGEAR Armor feature.  SCAM!!!!  Nowhere on the box does it way it's a subscription feature.  I'm sure it's somewhere in fine print but REALLY???  Also brands -  if they're worth their salt should offer lifetime support on their product.  (Which most people change their tech devices every several years - lifetime support would really only be several years.)  If you're product is that good.  It shouldn't need support within a 2-5yr period.

    You do not say which modem you use, but every Netgear device lets you change the password for the admin access.Indeed, Netgear is so keen on this that in newer devices it forces users to change the password.

     

    You cannot change the admin username. But this is a local connection, so the only risks are from people near you.

    That is not a Netgear modem. It is a router.

     


    Also brands -  if they're worth their salt should offer lifetime support on their product. 

    Sadly, very few brands offer free lifetime support for consumer grade devices.  But welcome to Netgear's lifetime support system.
