It would help to know which specific password. Netgear WiFi routers typically have multiple credentials:
- WiFi credentials. The primary WiFi network name (SSID) and password are printed on the product label. During configuration, the user is given a chance to change both the SSID and the password. It is common for people to configure a new WiFi system with exactly the same WiFi credentials as the one being replaced. This allows WiFi devices to connect automatically to the new system without any action by the user. (It also allows one to "go back" to the previous system simply by unplugging the new system and reconnecting the old one.)
- Additional WiFi credentials. Many systems allow the creation of Guest and Internet of Things (IoT) WiFi networks, which have their own WiFi credentials. Systems that support 6GHz frequencies often have a separate WiFi network just for 6G devices.
- Administrative credentials are used to manage the system with a web browser. The user name is always "admin" and when the system is brand new (or Factory Reset), the password is "password". If the user changed the password and enters it incorrectly three times in a row, there is a ""Password Recovery" process which offers a chance to reset it. If that fails, the only method to reset this password is to perform a Factory Reset and configure the system again.
- The smartphone app (Nighthawk or Orbi) has credentials which are the same as the login to my.netgear.com (Typically an email address and a password.)
My experience has been that the smartphone app often asks for "credentials" and suggests email addresses which I have not used in years.
Which password is failing?

I did reset to factory reset, the issue is the app admin & password as the default! I think I must have change it when I first got the router! Can’t remember the password!
