Firmware update needed but can’t find how to update it.
Please help!!!
So the Genie app is now obsolete it seems so I downloaded the new nighthawk app.
My model C6250 is supported by the app according to the list from NETGEAR. However I can’t do anything on the app because it say firmware update needed.
So I go to routerlogin.com and sign in. My current firmware is V1.01.26
I can’t find anywhere how to update to the latest firmware so the app will work. I’ve searched under the advanced settings as well as administrative and every single tab and place on the website and can’t find it anywhere.
Any help How to update the firmware would be greatly appreciated!!!
As a side note: I normally get about 250+ mbps download speeds and lately can’t get more than 30mbps. I’ve troubleshot every other thing it could be and nothing seemed to work. It’s not a service provider issue either. Will the firmware being out of date hinder my internet speed like it has been? Are there any other possibilities why my internet has dramatically decreased in speed?

1. you can't update the firmware on the c6250. On combo device, only the isp can update them. Its an issue that the app knows there's newer firmware but your isp doesn't support it.
2. You can keep using the genie app.
3. I'd recommend using the browser instead of the app. tends to be more stable, more accurate, and has more resources. the app is good for quick checks though.
4. In terms of your speeds, are the 30 mbps over a wired connection? or wireless? if its wireless, is it the 2.4ghz or 5ghz? 2.4ghz is significantly slower and 30mbps is actually reasonable.

In reality this is a cable modem issue.You cannot update standalone cable modems or cable modem/router combos.
You can update "combo" devices for DSL.
If your firmware is outdated, you cannot manually upgrade your cable modem’s or modem router’s firmware. You must contact your Internet service provider (ISP) to upgrade your firmware.
The bottom line is the same, though, firmware updates are in the hands of the ISP.
