Genie Parental Controls with WNDR4300 Router
I have had my WNDR4300 router for almost 3 years and it works great! I now have a need to put parental controls on it with two teenagers and found out this morning during my research that I need to download and install Genie to do that - no problem. I downloaded Genie on my new Window 10 computer (Lenovo Yoga) and went to install. The first install crashed, so I unistalled it and the reinstall appeared to work. Within Genie I went to parental controls and it said my router firmware was not current and Genie needed me to update the firmware, which I did (now have firmware version v1.0.2.80). I rebooted my computer. Even after a computer reboot and firmware upgrade I get the following error message from within Genie when I attempt to access Parental Controls - "Checking Router Firmware - we are making sure you have firmware that supports Live Parental Controls. You don't appear to be commencted to the internet. Please connect to the internet through your NETGEAR router and try again". In spite of the message, I am accually conected to the internet through the router as all other internet connectivity is working properly according to Genie and I am able to surf the web at will with my browser.
What might be going on? How can I get Genie Parental Controls to work? Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide!

Hi randylaw,
Did you perform a factory reset after the firmware update? If not, I suggest doing so then reconfigure the router. You may refer to the link below for the steps.

Hi Dexter,
Thanks for the fast reply. I just performed a factory reset per your provided instructions. Unfortunately I am still seeing the exact same error message from Genie when attempting to access the parental controls. Any ideas on other things to try?
Thanks!
