I see neighbors router networks, not mine

-I have a 2-week-old Netgear AX1800.

-I cannot see my router from the list of available internet connections after I  reinstalled Win 10 yesterday.

-Then I did a repair on win 10.

-Still can't see my router.

-Did several windows updates and did not see additional updates available.

-I went into device manager and found updated drivers for my network adapters and accepted the updates.  Nothing changed.

-Rebooted modem/router several times.

-Turned-off internet and connected my laptop via Cat 5 cable to my router and was able to surf the internet.

-Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6)   and 4 were both enabled.

-Performed basic troubleshooter in Win 10.

-Unplugged modem/router for 2 minutes.

-My work computer is connected fine to my wifi without issue.

Please help!  Thank you all : )

  • What model router do you have? RAX or MR#?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

When your work computer connects fine via Wi-Fi and your Windows 10 computer connects fine via Ethernet, most likely the problem is not with the router.

With as much churn as you have had with your Windows 10 installation, you need to run the Microsoft System File Check utility on your machine.  It may take more than one pass and be sure and follow the next step instructions if it comes up with errors.  Here is the link:

With a recent Windows installation, there is a chance your network has been profiled as public and it should be private.  You can go to Network & Internet in settings and check/change the properties.
