Netgear Genie - Network Map

The Genie Map most times shows most of the items connected to the router, but lately it shows a line connected from the laptop through the router to the internet, but then 2 lines to question marks, with a yellow lock on one line.  Presumably this is some security problem. This morning everything was shown, including a visitor with a mobile phone and iPad, but now our PCs and mobile phones are connected or disconnected intermittently and the incorrect genie map is constantly showing the 2 question marks.  I've taken a screen print but don't know how to display it for you.

I have 2 requests - 1, to know if this is a common fault and if not, how do I correct it, and 2, I believe it's possible to give each item an individual name (eg Dad's PC, Beryl's mobile).  I'm totally confused by all the numbers (I'm a 76 year old granny) but very much want to learn.  Please help me if you can.

    Hi Grannyb,

    1. Do you have any power line adapters installed in your network?

    2. If you are experiencing intermittent wireless connection, have you tried changing the wireless channel?

    3. Yes, you can assign/modify the name of the connected device within the Network Map. You may find the link below helpful.

      Good morning Dexter

Thank you so much for your reply.  I'm pleased to report that all our many problems have been resolved by the visit of a telecoms engineer yesterday who has changed where the main telephone line comes in to the house.  It now comes to the central hall and all our units now receive the signal from the router.  We haven't lost the internet connection since and the network map is working perfectly.

Thanks also for the link to the Netgear help page.  I'll now be able to identify the various units.

      Kind regards

      Beryl
