Hi FRANKORFANELLO,
1. What macOS version are you using?
2. What version of Genie do you have installed?
3. Please try uninstalling and re-installing the app.

The fix proposed by the other thread (renaming libGeniePlugin_MyMedia.dylib) worked for me...
The Netgear support team worked actively for quite some time on this case. They were very pro-active in trying to find a solution. However, they were not able to reproduce the problem. They suggested I re-install my Mac from scratch...
I don't use the 'Media' part of the router... so I didn't mind disabling the above mentioned plugin. It solved my problem.

llalonde, thanks for the reply.
So the problem iappears to be in the "libGeniePlugin_MyMedia.dylib" module, and the solution is to simply disable that function?
I guess I'll try that and report back, until Netgear fixes the problem.

As a follow up, this worked for me too.

I have the problem as well, running version 2.4.22, installed yesterday. After telling it to quit and then assuming it would (despite siginficant evidence to the contrary yesterday), I discovered it running away with my CPU several minutes later. This runaway process also seems to somehow be using a large amount of bandwidth at the same time. It appears to have been almost two years since this problem first showed up (and disabling a feature on the router isn't an answer).
