I'm trying to toggle the guest wifi feature to "on" through the nighthawk app. Been using this router / app for over 5 years. Now I'm being asked to "update WiFi credentials". What does this mean?...
Enable any Guest Network using the routers web page.
Glad you got it working. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Finished setup through the app. One change noted from previous setup is the password character requirements for the router login (caps, lower case, numbers, special if desired). This was different from previous setup. I've tried the functions on the app and all seem to be working. Did not try the original problem of "guest access' setting. Just want to leave that sleep dog lie. PC interface also works although it never stopped working. For now, I'm calling it done. I'm keeping the same WiFi password simply to avoid changing all the devises and connections.

Try enabling GN on the routers web page using a web browser first.
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
I can get guest network to turn on / off using the "routerlogin.net" through a PC, but cannot get it to work on the app. If it's on, the app won't turn it off and visaversa. I get " configuration error" on the app along with "update WiFi credentials.

What version of the NH app do you have installed?
I can't find any firmware update option on the routerlogin.net page. However, when checking firmware update through the app, it says no new updates available at this time.
When I look in the "about" section of the app, it says:
App version 2.29.1.129
Firmware version V1.0.11.126
