MR60 Mesh Blinking White

Internet goes down.

internet comes back online.

mesh router is solid amber.

have had nighthawk app and account for 14 months.

NightHawk app told me to do a firmware update. 

DId the update. 

Router starts blinking white. 

Did 26 hours of troubleshooting and forums and resets and hard laptop connects, admin firmware attempts, and other others. 

Create help desk request.

Call customer service. 

Won't help you unless you pay. 

Lie about when I boutght it to actually talk to a human. 

Human tells me in 30 seconds. "If you used a mobile phone and the NightHawk App to updte the firmware then the firmware is corupted and there is nothing anyone can do." 

I huff and puff and complain for 10+ minutes and she suggests I tried to create a new account and falsify the proof of purchase date to within 90 days but I know that is likely not going to work and she said even her manager or complaning on twitter won't help anything, that regardless the device is permenantly broken. 

she says return it to costco ro bestbuy. 

I say this is insane, your app told me to do the firmware update. 

She defends nighthawk and says the app suggests in small print at the bottom as you select to do the firmware update that "all firmware updates are OFTEN RECOMMENDED" to be a hard connection to a laptop and now using the nighthawk app. 

That me clicking the update button through the app is my fault and better go to costco. 

Defeated and so okay. 

I am now spending Christmas Eve going to Costco. 

Hoefully can get this fixed by Monday as to not miss another day's pay of work. 

 

No complaints for 14 months. Loved it.

Now defeated, wife is furious, and we are now finding a new service to spend our money on.

    Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the NightHawk MESH products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with NH MESH products and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this router forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

  • UPDATE: 

     

    Went to Costco, returned the mesh. 

    Bought the same exact mesh. 

    Came home. 

    Tried to set it up. 

    App asked for firmware update. 

    Stopped/killed app before firmware began. 

    Called customer service. 

    35 minute call but they got it to work. 

    Had to use another laptop with hard connection and 2 phones during process. 

     

    Long story short is call the poeple, don't trust the app. 

    Firmware update is not talking to app and routerlogin mobile correctly. 

    Hopefully they get it fixed to save their sanity.

    Painful but can get back to work now and make up for yesterday.

      Interesting to note the timeline.. 14 months+ .

      In my case, it seems to be dead around same time. I haven't even attempted to make any firmware update. 

      It was working fine and suddenly died. No power outage and/or other disruptions.

       

      Do they have a ticking bug to kill the firmware after 14+ months ?

       

      Support is NOT going to help much here!

      In general, I have very good experience with NetGear product. I have other products working so well form same Vendor.

      Unfortunately, this MESH died

    It's recommended to manually update FW on router systems by using a wired PC and web browser. One can manually download the FW files and install them. 

    MS should be updated first then the MR lastly.
