MR60 will not connect with 2 satellites

I have had this router for at least 5 years.  We got it because we have a TV in a guest house next to our house.  The satellites worked fine when we first got them but we don't use the TV very much so

have not dealt with this problem until recently.  Some years ago it seemed that 1 satellite wouldn't work. I tried synching and resetting but it would not connect.  I thought it was defective.  The 1 remaining satellite is in the guest house.  I notice the light is amber many times when I go in there.  I have pulled the plug and then it shows the white light.  But now it seems it disconnects very quickly.  I tried to solve this problem today.  I followed all the instructions about putting it near the router, pushing synch button, pushing reset button.  I connected it by ethernet cord and it worked but as soon as I took it off ethernet, it went back to amber light.  I went to routerlogin.net and it shows that neither satellite is connected.  I went to netgear app and it downloaded firmware and then said it was good to go but satellites still don't work.

Should I just toss the whole thing and start with new equipment

How far away is this "guest" house?

Exteriors of buildings tend to be made from materials that block wifi fairly well. And it might have had "just enough" before to work.

could be there's more interference now than there was before.

Since new firmware was released in Oct, 2025, this might be a good time to "refresh" the entire system.

i.e. Download the new firmware from the support web site to a computer

    https://kb.netgear.com/000070298

Extract the firmware for the router and satellites from the zip files.

Place both the router and both satellites in the same room and do a Factory Reset on all three units.

Power them up and see if the satellites connect to the router.

Then, attempt to install the new firmware using the router web interface (or the Nighthawk app).
