Need Help to Setup a NETGEAR Nighthawk Whole Home Mesh WiFi 6 System (MK63S) AX1800
Hello, and I'm sorry in advance for the long post however I always think that the more information I provide, the easier will be for someone to help me.
I just bought a NETGEAR Nighthawk Whole Home Mesh WiFi 6 System (MK63S) AX1800 to replace 3 routers I use in my home as Access Points for both wired and wireless needs. After I bought my first and then replaced it, I decided to use the old ones as an Access Point.
My main router is a Peplink Balance Duo (Load Balance) and I have 2 Internet plugged in for backup purposes meaning that the second ISP is in Cold Standby most of the time. From the Peplink I have cables connecting to the other 3 routers and all those routers have their "Use Router as DHCP Server" unchecked and as well as a predefined IP provided by the Peplink router. One thing I like to do is to add all my devices to the DHCP reservation and define an IP for each.
Getting back to the Mesh and here I first tried to direct connect to a laptop and then tried 192.168.1.1 (which is what I did with my previous routers to get into their settings and configure them.) and didn’t work. I tried also www.routerlogin.net and none worked.
I then downloaded the Nighthawk app and managed to get into the Mesh Router and couldn’t find any place to disable the DHCP and use it as an AP only. It’s working and both Satellites are also working I would leave it the way it is if was not causing me two big issues. The first is that my house has a Hikivision Hybrid Intercom Kit. The door station is connected wired to my Peplink using the IP 192.168.1.64 and the Indoor Station is now connected to my Wifi Mesh System using an IP 10.0.0.12 (it was 192.168.1.65 before). It seems that because they are not in the same Network isn’t working anymore. Same issue with one of my PCs that is connected to the Mesh System. Neither that PC can see all the other computers in my home network or vice-versa.
As I said the only thing I need to know is if there is a way for me to get into the Mesh WiFi 6 System, disable the DHCP server and set a static IP for it, or if there are any other options I can try.
Thanks again in advance for any help 😊
Best,

did you get it in access point mode?
if not, disconnect it from the peplink gateway.
then with a computer connected to it, pull up a command prompt on your computer and run ipconfig. The default gateway IP address should be the routers address. Use that to access it and put it in access point mode.
Once its in ap mode, then connect it back to the peplink. the peplink will assign it an ip address that you could be able to find in the peplink's attached devices page.

You need to set it up in access point mode.

are you hardwiring in the satellites?
If so, make sure to run the gateway to the MR60's wan port. then the satellites need to connect to the MR60's wan port.
Not through the peplink gateway.
so
Peplink---->wan port on MR60--->lan port on mr60---->satellites
And you'll want the MK system in ap mode or you'll keep running into the double nat you're in.
That's exactly the way I'm running. Peplink---->wan port on MR60--->lan port on mr60---->satellites
The issue I'm facing is that no matter what I do I can't connect to the MR60 using a Laptop or Desktop. I'm connecting the MR60 using the Ethernet Port (not WAN) direct to the computer Network card. When I type 192.168.1.1 or www.routerlogin.net I get a message saying the page could not be found. And like I said is exactly what I always did with all my other old routers to to configure them as AP.
And no, not hardwiring the satelittes. They connected to the MR60 wireless.
