New - MR90 / MS90 Firmware Version 1.0.2.38 Released

New Features and Enhancements:  01/23/2024

  • Support APS HK region.
  • Support Router Protection feature.
  • Security enhancement.

NOTE: A new feature maybe seen in this version of FW, Protection Engine. We've ask about this feature and NG hasn't given much information on it. All I got was, "Protects against attacks on the router."

Any and all additional questions needed to be answered regarding this new feature, you'll need to contact NG support and ask.

If users notice problems or bad performances, try disabling Protection Engine first then check for problems and performances again.

Installation Instructions:

Download the firmware to a convenient place such as your desktop.

Be sure to update all MS first, then the MR lastly.

NOTE: If a problem is seen after applying this FW update, try powering OFF the ISP modem, MR and MS units for 1 minute then back ON. Last resort would be to try a full on Factory Reset and setup from scratch.

    Thanks for that.

Too soon for the update to show up on the internal GUI check. So went and did a manual run. Took time.

After the router update satellites did not show up on the Router Update page. But they were there in Attached Devices so I could get in with the IP address.

They are here now. Perhaps it needed more time or compatible firmware.

Updates went through with no problems, albeit slow.

    No visible after effects.

Following the link to the KnowledgeBase piece on Protection Engine, I had to look hard to find the Protection Engine Version. Its is on 2.2.193/1.0.0.2053

The link in Advanced >> Security to Protection Engine says nothing about version numbers. Might be worth having the version there too.

PS The MK9# stuff is not there in the Associated Products slot.

      Manually updated my MK93 system.

Looking good. Even with a BE200 PCI card:

  • So far, performance is still good with an Intel AX210 client reaching about 1.7Gbps real world throughput when transferring data from a wired client connected to the 2.5GbE port.

5 and 6 GHz band give about the same performance.

Will have to do some longer term testing to see if performance is maintained after it has racked up a few weeks of up time.
