Nighthawk MR70 not showing 5G network?

I've got a MR70 & one satellite, but no 5GHz network showing - how do I enable it?

Also, using I'm using the iWiFi app on my iphone to check signal strength, speed, etc., as I prepare to cut the cable & go with streaming services, but when sitting less than a foot from the satellite, the signal strength is showing as -61 dBm. Shouldn't this be higher?

I'm paying for an 800 Mbps connection & would like to take full advantage of it - any suggestions?

Thanks!

Both radios are enabled by default out of the box.

What devices are you connecting to the system?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between MR📡 and MS🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

What channel configurations are currently set on the router?

Be sure to disable any MAC address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

Connected to the system, I've got a couple of Samsung Smart TVs, an iPhone 14, a Galaxy S22 (or something like that), an iPad, a Dell XPS laptop, a Macbook Pro, a Brother HL-2280 & a Netgear N300 range extender out in the garage..

House is about 2000 sq ft, the base is connected to an Arris Surfboard SB6190 cable modem that's capable of up to 1 Gbps. T the satellite is on the opposite side of the house (30+ ft away), on the same floor with 3 or 4 sheetrock walls between them. Base & satellite are on firmware version V1.0.3.34. I'm using the cable that came with it, assuming it would have been the right one for this setup.

5GHz channel is 44, 2.4 GHz is set at auto. My previous WiFi router (WNDR3700v5) had them named with 2.4 or 5 GHz in the same. I set that up so long ago, I don't remember if I had to name them separately or not,

I'm going to install the speedtest app on my Apple TVs & will get back with those results.

What tells you that it is not showing? By default both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz have the same SSID (network identifier). You have to prise them apart deliberately. So you won't see either. Just the WiFi.

You will never get that speed over WiFi unless you have the latest and greatest, and most expensive, clients. Most kit will be much slower than that.

You are talking about wifi speeds here, so it might be worth a bit of background reading.
