2.4 Stops working

I have been dealing with the same issue.  Here is my log file; I just restarted the router yesterday because it was having this issue.  XR1000 running firmware v1.0.0.64_1.0.49.

 

You can see several MAC addresses continuously requesting DHCP addresses every ~10 seconds until giving up.

  • Give the devices a static/reserved IP in LAN Settings, apply, reboot from the interface, wait 2 minutes then connect, is it more stable then?

      Should not need to provide static MAC assignment for wifi to work correctly...  This needs to be addressed and reported as a bug

        I recommend you factory reset and setup from scratch.

        Arris DOCSIS is not a model. 

         

        I've not seen this on my XR1000.

    What devices do you have connected? 

    How many devices are connected to the router? 

     

    What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
    Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

     

    What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
    Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended. 

     

    Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch. Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.

      Mixture of wired and wireless devices are connected.  There's maybe 20-25 devices connected total, mixture of PCs, mobile devices (phones & tablets), a printer, game devices and Roku streaming boxes.

       

      I manually have channel 11 on the 2.4GHz frequency band to avoid noise on channel 1.

       

      Cable modem is a newer Arris surfboard DOCSIS 3.0, with a short length CAT6 cable; they're physically next to each other.  There is no wifi capability of the modem.

       

      I have not performed a full factory reset wipe.  Why would that be needed for this?  Same response for the DHCP address change to using .100 for the fourth octet.  There's no good reason for either of these recommendations, unless if the XR1000 firmware has crappy programming.
