DoS Attack/Security Breach? Please help
Model Version: Nighthawk Pro Gaming (XR500)
Firmware: V2.3.2.56
OS: DumaOS - A7Legit
NOT USING VPN
Backstory:
About a month ago, I noticed in my router logs DoS Attacks. This had me really concerned so I tried to find out where they were coming from. I searched the IPs and they came back to New York City, France, and Germany. I live in Utah in the United States of America. I didn't know what to do, so I brushed it off until today. I again searched my logs and found more DoS Attacks. Every single day, I get a ton of messages saying:
"[DoS Attack: SYN/ACK Scan] from source: **.**.**.**, port *****"
Important Context:
My network service is from my City, my internet is 1 Gigabit per second.
I have moved twice in the past 3 years, it says my network is offline, but I can see its activity and I can submit this forum post (so obviously my network is not offline).
I sometimes host Local Lan Minecraft Multiplayer games just on my network. I play AAA multiplayer games sometimes that connect to other players. I've played on the 2B2T Minecraft Server (notorious for having hackers), I once downloaded an exploit from a privately distributed file called NOCOM.exe that could have contained malware or given away my network information. I was assured it was safe, but I still didn't trust it. I've since deleted that file, and have scanned my computer with multiple security services to see if I got malware from the file or just in general. The scans all say No Malware or security concerns, but I'm still worried and my gut tells me that I could still have a trojan horse or other secret malware or security compromises.
Questions I have:
- Is there anyway to tell if I have secret Malware or if my computer or network has been compromised?
- Is there a way I can do an even deeper scan?
- Is there a computer security company that you trust and recommend?
- Could it be my router has synced to the specific network of my old home, and sees my new network as a threat?
- Are these false reads?
- Is my network being viscously attacked or am I just fine?
- Is there anything I can to do stop these "attacks" and stay safe?
I know I have lot of questions, I just want to understand and stay safe. Any feedback helps, thanks!
- Netgear routers are notorious for showing these logs when they're just connections you have come in contact with online. I would ignore it personally, it means the firewall blocked them
