Game lag xr700

Hi,

I have a nighthawk xr700 which is configured with QoS and game traffic prioritization (by port). when i am playing warzone on my ps5 and the apple tv is playing at the same time, the game becomes unplayable. i have my bandwidth distribution unshared. 30% going to the ps5 with Total download speed of 580Mbps. Warzone ports are also configured for prioritzation. I see so many packets prioritized. Still the game lags and my only option is to switch off Apple TV.

i am running the latest firmware as well.

the games i play have a ping which difffers from one game to another and ranges btw 25 ms to 200ms. I didnt have lag issue during the past 2 years as much as i have now.

is there something i can do to fix the issue?

thx

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

Nighthawk Pro Gaming Routers - NETGEAR Communities

Gaming routers have their own DumaOS operating system that is nothing like the one on Netgear's standard routers.

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

  • Do you currently have Congestion Control configured? What are the speeds you get from your ISP and what percentage do you have the sliders set to in Congestion Control?

It's important to use this because it moves the queue of traffic from upstream routers down to the XR700, allowing it to appropriately prioritise your important traffic.

      Hi

download speed tests show that i have 600Mbps for download and 95 Mbps for upload.

i have set the download speed on my router to 350 Mbps, and upload at 85 Mbps (not exactly matching the actual test values, leaving some room in the bandwidth).

I have set the anti-bufferbloat to 70% for both download and upload. (when high priority traffic detected).

QoS for ps5 is set at 30%. Share excess option is deselected.

I'd suggest setting your speeds in DumaOS a little more accurately than this, closer to 600.

Presumably the Apple TV is also connected directly to the XR700, yes?

If that's the case, could you please try disabling all rules in Traffic Prio and create a new one for the PS5. Select 'Games Console' when prompted to select a service.

Let us know if that works better.
