Higher ping

When I connect my ps5 straight to my modem I get like 43-44 ping on Fortnite but when I connect my ps5 to the nighthawk xr1000 I get around 50 why is there a difference? I use spectrum and there modem.

    Ping is literally the time it takes for a device to send a signal to an ip address and get a response back. 

    Everything you add into the connection, adds ping. Reason why is now the router has to pickup the signal and retransmit. some are fairly low in how much ping time they add, others are going to be higher if they have to do packet inspection

    Good advice above, a certain amount will be due to processing the routing to devices, could also be QoS settings or the server you're connecting to. I see you've posted on the Netduma forum as well so I'll post there too.
